Yes, dear Facebook, thanks for those hints. But recently i saw your "Managers-Backend". i would more call it your nasty Dollar/Business-Backend. Now i understand the whole thing a bit better.... but these thoughts are not really new.

Facebook's users are like milk-cows in a huge cowshed. You might remember the film "Matrix".... ?1)
I guess most people think "Oh Facebook, your're so nice and social to offer this great free service to the humankind. To make it a better world". So - what the cows do, they predominantly share their lives with Facebook, they do not share their lives with the others on facebook. (or maybe more true: they also "do something with some information with others ...")

But what does sharing mean?
You might remember what sharing used to be. If you share a piece of bread with a friend, you get half of the bread, and your friend gets the other half of the bread. Both of you will be happy to eat something.
If you share things on Facebook, you (kind of) feed the whole bread to Facebook. You can not know who and when will be eating the bread you've just shared. One thing for sure, Facebook will eat most of the bread.

I am part of it; as you might be, while read this.

... to be continued.

1) You might also remember the film Tron ? If you do, you will recognize one ore more analogies to what is happening if you join facebook.
